Us
We started
Montana Tamale Company about 7 years ago. We both
grew up making tamales with our Mother’s and Grandmother’s.
We knew that tamale making was quickly becoming a lost art.
We have taught our children to make tamales, and we hope that
they pass this skill on to their children too.
Our USDA
kitchen is leased from the Colstrip School District. We
are in the former Isabel Bills Elementary School. This
school was closed and consolidated with the other 3 Colstrip
schools. The school leases out each individual room as
offices, and it is now called the Isabel Bills Community Center. Each
of the former classrooms are leased out and have become offices.
Most tamale
manufacturers use tamale making machines. We make each
tamale entirely by hand, we don’t just tie by hand. These
are large tamales with only one end folded over.
Our
kitchen here in Colstrip employs 5 excellent tamale makers.
They
would make my Nana proud!
Our goal
as a company, is to exceed your expectations!!!!
